My Dad's Work

My Dad has been a mason for 24 years and this past Monday was the first time he's ever gone around to take pictures of his work! I wanted to the pictures for the websiteI've made for him, but after seeing Dad get a little bit excited about all of it, I had him copies of all the pictures made. We drove around for 2 hours taking pictures and letting Daddy show Michael off to all of his buddies. Everytime we stopped he wanted to show him to someone. It was really sweet. Dad sees him a lot at the house, but rarely gets to take him out anywhere and be the proud Granddaddy!

So, here is the address to Dad's new site-www.freewebs.com/vowellmasonry, and a few of my favorite pictures of Dad's beautiful work...

Busy Weekend!!

Anyone that knows Dustin or myself, knows that we don't sit still very often. We are constantly on the go with something planned after that. This weekend was really no exception...Saturday Dustin and I took Michael to Bowling Green, KY for a birthday party for his cousin Garrett, (who is exactly 1 month younger than Michael). Garrett had a baseball themed party that was too adorable. The kids colored baseball character pages, iced their own baseball cookies, hit a pinata, played a baseball toss game, and ate yummy ball park food! I think little Mr. Garrett had a great 1st Birthday!!

After the party, we stopped by Dustin's Great Grandfather's, "Pepe", in Russelville, KY so that Michael and Pepe could meet for the 1st time. Michael was a little sleepy at first, but it didn't take him long to wake up and start getting into everything! He sat with Pepe for a little while in

the rocking chair and posed for a few pictures, then decided there was a lot more that needed to be done. Michael wanted to spin in Pepe's chair, pull all the magnets off the refrigerator, climb on the stool, and sweep Pepe's kitchen floor. Here are a few of the pics from Pepe's house...

News Interview

A news reporter from Omaha just emailed me the link to watch Dustin's news interview about the wreck. This video aired on the 6 o'clock news in Omaha, NE last night.

I just spoke with Dustin again...he says he's really nervous but he's on his way and things are going well so far.

Keep praying!

Update on Dustin's Accident

Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers and concerns. We are really looking forward to Dustin's safe return home. He should be leaving Omaha, NE by noon today (Friday). He has a new tractor to drive home, but he is pulling the damaged, uninspected, trailor that was in the accident. He has about a 16 1/2 hour drive home through two major cities with NO BLINKERS! I'm not sure who told him this would be a good idea, but I think I'm going to have a little talk with whoever it was very soon! He says he'll be fine and that other drivers can help him get through the cities. In other words, we still need all the prayers we can get!!! I am currently getting the pictures ready to post for this afternoon, however, there is an updated article and video of an interview that Dustin did with a local news station in Omaha at www.ketv.com. I havn't been able to get the video to play right for me, but hopefully they'll get that fixed shortly.

Check back soon for photos of the accident. Remember-please pray for us, this whole ordeal won't be over for us until Dustin is at home and safe!

SEMI WRECK!!!

Dustin has been driving a tractor trailor for quite some time now. He got his permit at 19 years old where he could drive, in the state of KY with another driver with him. At 20, he could drive alone, but only in KY. At 21, he was able to start driving out of state. His big jobs at work started to pick up and things have been great. He has had a couple of close calls since he's been driving alone (since March 2007. A motorcycle ran into the back of an SUV in front of him and he jack-knifed the trailor, but no wreck...he and I drove straight through a tornado in Missouri, but no wreck...and now this...

Dustin called me at 6:30 this morning to tell me that he had just turned his semi over on I-80 in Omaha, Nebraska with a trailor half loaded. He couldn't even tell me how he did it. He just said that he was okay, but he wasn't sure what happened-he just lost control and turned it over. He did say that he thought a car might have his tractor, but he wasn't sure. When I talked to him later on, he said that a car hit did hit him and the car was totalled. He said he didn't understand how the guy was even alive, much less out of the car walking around. I later found out that the other driver was arrested and taken to jail for DUI and reckless driving!!!

So, the long and short of it...Dustin was hit by a drunk driver and it caused him to turn his semi over on an OVERPASS in the middle of an interstate in Nebraska!!!! I just thank God that he was not hurt. He had another guy in the truck with him, but he was fine too. I guess the other driver was okay because they took him straight to jail. I just spoke with Dustin again and he is at the hospital being checked out and taking a drug and alcohol test for his company (it's company policy that all drivers involved in any accident be tested for legal reasons). He is being asked to stay overnight and will either be given a rental car or put on a plane to come home tomarrow.

Tell someone you love them and count your blessings....we sure are.

If you want to see photos of the accident, news channel 7 in Omaha, NE has a slide show and story posted at www.ketv.com under the heading "Semi Trailor Overturns On Car"
